PAYBACK and weg.de launch travel website

PAYBACK points for bookings – broad-based information campaign for
www.payback-reisen.de ensures rapid growth and high profile

Germany’s largest bonus programme, PAYBACK, and weg.de, voted one of Germany’s best online travel portals by the Stiftung Warentest foundation for comparative product testing, are launching a completely new travel platform under the motto “the most beautiful points in the world”. Unlike other travel websites, www.payback-reisen.de enables travellers to collect PAYBACK points as they choose from the millions of holidays and flights the site has to offer. Over the next three years, the portal, which is currently being launched in a nationwide campaign, will become one of the leading travel websites in the German-speaking world. payback-reisen.de is being run by a strong Munich-based partnership made up of Loyalty Partner, the operator of PAYBACK, and COMVEL, the company behind weg.de.

Travellers using the site receive PAYBACK points for every euro they spend on travel products. Customers who pay with PAYBACK Premium – the new PAYBACK Visa credit card – receive five points for every euro they spend, giving them the equivalent of a five percent discount. The site offers fixed-price and last-minute deals from over 60 tour operators, 100,000 holiday homes and flats in 30 countries, scheduled, charter and budget flights from over 500 airlines and approximately 180,000 hotels and car hire firms. However, there is even more on offer. Besides the savings delivered by PAYBACK points, the strong partnership behind the portal also means that customers can compare the best and cheapest holidays from renowned tour operators and read hotel reviews written by guests themselves. What’s more, both companies are to continue working with partners to further expand their leisure and tourism portfolio.

“We have high hopes for this innovative partnership. www.payback-reisen.de is raising the bar in the tourism industry, which is already a highly competitive sector. Our cooperation with the largest and most successful bonus programme in Germany offers both us and our partners in tourism a competitive edge over our rivals,” explains COMVEL CEO Aleksandar Vucak.

“Over 60 percent of German households have a PAYBACK card, and our opinion polls have shown that millions of members would use a broadly based PAYBACK travel platform. Our brand stands for added value and for fair deals that are low in price. We now offer these benefits in the tourism sector too, and can take full advantage of PAYBACK communication channels and the opportunity to address customers directly,” comments Bernhard Brugger, Member of the PAYBACK Board of Management and head of PAYBACK Partner Management.

PAYBACK sends out 96 million direct mailings and 140 million e-mail newsletters a year and its brand is represented in 7,800 partner stores. As a result, PAYBACK is the largest communications platform in Germany.
