“Our customers want solutions that make their everyday lives easier,” says dm Managing Director Sebastian Bayer. “By automatically collecting PAYBACK points when they pay, we offer exactly that: a seamless service with no additional effort. The fact that no change of cards or apps is required to collect points at the dm checkout makes shopping even more convenient for our customers.”
PAYBACK also sees the new cooperation as an important step for the shopping experience of millions of people. “dm is one of the most popular PAYBACK partners,” explains PAYBACK Managing Director Bernhard Brugger. “Together, we are making collecting points as easy as possible. Paying and earning points at the same time – that fits perfectly with everyday life and the philosophy of PAYBACK and dm-drogerie markt.”
From the perspective of the savings banks, the expansion is another milestone. “With dm, another heavyweight in German retail is joining the fray,” says Dr. Joachim Schmalzl, Managing Director of the German Savings Banks and Giro Association (DSGV). “This makes paying with the Sparkassen-Card even more attractive: faster, more digital, and with real added value for our customers. This is made possible by the Girocard system in the Sparkassen-Card.”
Collecting points when paying is this easy
The only requirement is to link your Sparkassen-Card to your PAYBACK account once. This can be done in just a few steps via online banking or the Sparkasse app. Then all you have to do is present your card, pay, and your PAYBACK points will be credited automatically.
PAYBACK currently has more than 35 million active customers and works with over 700 partner companies. With over 36 million private checking accounts, the Sparkasse banks are the largest financial group in Europe. At dm, customers collect PAYBACK points with every purchase – from classic drugstore items and sustainable dm brand products to services such as photos, express pickup, and online orders. Coupons, especially those from the PAYBACK app, can be used to multiply the points even further.
