Now also at REWE: Collect and redeem PAYBACK points

Cologne / Munich – PAYBACK is launching at REWE. As of tomorrow, Monday, customers in over 3,000 REWE stores across Germany will be able to use PAYBACK cards and earn PAYBACK points on purchases. What’s more, they will also be able to redeem PAYBACK points for shopping vouchers in all REWE stores. Customers who don’t yet have a card can register with the new REWE PAYBACK card in next to no time and use the card in the store straight away. “We are extremely pleased we can offer our customers this added value,” says Lionel Souque, Member of the REWE Group Management Board at responsible for the REWE stores in Germany. “Thanks to coupons and special offers, customers will quickly see their points totals rocket. Cardholders who make good use of the programme across several partners can easily save over EUR 200 a year.”

“REWE fits perfectly into our group of partners and makes PAYBACK even more appealing to customers”, says Bernhard Brugger, CEO PAYBACK Europe. Coupons for more than 1,000 extra points are already available at REWE as the new partnership launches. More than 20 million con-sumers in Germany already benefit from offers and coupons they receive by post and via e-mail newsletters, the PAYBACK.de website and the PAYBACK mobile app.

REWE is offering innovative additional services at new terminals in its stores. For example, cus-tomers don’t need to bring paper coupons to the stores anymore. Instead, they can go to the “”REWE Service Point” and activate their digital coupons there, such as five-fold points on all purchases or on specific goods. Customers wishing to redeem their PAYBACK points can also do that at the terminal. Their savings are then deducted from their bill directly at the cash desk – all at the touch of a button and without a piece of paper in sight. New PAYBACK customers receive 100 extra points when they register at the terminal.

The PAYBACK card is currently presented at cash desks 1.5 million times a day, with customers collecting points in-store, online and on the move from over 600 companies. The most recent big-name companies to join the programme were Dehner, Opel, Deutsche Telekom and Thalia. The card can be found in around 50 percent of German households and, according to TNS Emnid, is the third most common card in German wallets behind only the EC payment card and the credit card. More and more customers – currently just under 3 million – are using the programme in mobile app format.
