Three more major partners start mobile payment with the PAYBACK app

Following dm-drogerie markt and real,-, Alnatura, Aral and GALERIA Kaufhof are now also enabling payment with PAYBACK – Currently 10 million downloads already

PAYBACK starts the next stage of its new app: Following dm-drogerie markt and real,-, which have already been providing mobile point collection and payment since June this year, the next major partner companies are now expanding their shopping options by app: from today, customers at Alnatura, Aral and GALERIA Kaufhof can also use the app’s PAY function. Point collection and coupon activation is already possible at all major partners. “At 10 million downloads currently, the app is one of the most popular in Germany. The use of PAY is also already above our expectations. More than 28 million PAYBACK customers now have the opportunity to decide whether they want to continue to collect points with the plastic card as usual or with the “digital card,” said PAYBACK CEO Dominik Dommick.

Aral Chairman of the Management Board Patrick Wendeler sees PAYBACK and the network partners as innovation leaders and is delighted about the introduction of the new functionality. “This service offers the customer great added value and that in turn is an advantage for Aral and the whole PAYBACK network.”

“We are a multichannel department store, so the close integration of our in-store business and digital services is crucial. With the new app, PAYBACK fulfils our expectations of an innovative loyalty programme,” said Klaus Hellmich, managing director for multichannel retailing, IT and logistics at GALERIA Kaufhof GmbH.

Alnatura and GALERIA Kaufhof use the QR code as their technical solution, as do dm-drogerie markt and real,-. Aral uses an NFC solution. The amount due is paid by direct debit. Customers’ bank details cannot, however, be accessed by PAYBACK or its partners, nor are they stored on the smartphone. All bank details are stored exclusively by a certified payment provider.

The new PAYBACK app, its features and the partners involved will be communicated from 26 September to 31 October in a major multi-partner launch campaign via all channels, including a TV ad. Until the end of October, Alnatura, dm-drogerie markt and real,- are rewarding every mobile payment made with the app with five times the points, ARAL and GALERIA Kaufhof are offering a one-off 150 extra points for this.
