Help the earthquake victims in Japan by donating PAYBACK points!

100 points, for example, will provide initial emergency medical care for one victim – you can donate points at www.payback.de/spendenwelt

The situation in Japan is worsening dramatically for those hit by the disaster. After the devastating earthquake, which triggered a powerful tsunami and has pushed the country to the brink of a nuclear disaster, water, food and petrol are now running short. To offer support, the Payback loyalty programme and its charity partner betterplace.org have set up aid projects in the Payback donations initiative, enabling millions of Payback members to donate their collected points.

Many of the projects are geared towards emergency aid and the relief effort. There are several Japan aid projects in the PAYBACK donations initiative, and donors can choose which they would like to help finance. 100 Payback points, for example, will provide initial emergency medical care for one of the victims of the disaster. The aid organisations receive 100 percent of the equivalent value of the points.

A great many Payback customers have already shown tremendous commitment to helping the victims of the disasters in Haiti and Pakistan – and have made an invaluable contribution with their points. Last year, points worth more than EUR 1 million were donated to regional, national and international aid projects.

About the PAYBACK donations initiative
Payback has been working with aid organisations since the loyalty programme started in 2000. The company has always been concerned not only to make a financial contribution itself, but also to give its members the opportunity to donate the points they collect to good causes. The Payback donations initiative was designed and put in place in December 2009 in cooperation with experts at betterplace.org. Here, every customer has an overview of individual, specific projects – with people who initiate the projects, assume responsibility for their organisation and are available to answer questions. Anyone looking to make a donation can go online to find out how much money or how many points are still needed for a project, send questions to the people in charge, upload their photo as project sponsor and evaluate the projects. They can even set up their own projects.
