ItalyMunich – The waiting is over: the Payback app is now available for Android-based devices, too. As a result, the free application can be used on a whole range of popular smartphones besides the iPhone, for example the Samsung Galaxy, Nexus One, Sony Ericsson XPERIA, HTC Desire, LG Ally and Motorola Backflip. “Since the app was first launched in May 2010, Payback has become Germany's leading mobile coupon platform, with more than 300,000 coupons redeemed,” explains Karl Heinz Hinzen, who is responsible for Channel Management and Corporate Development at Payback. “The new version of our app meets the needs of the many customers who want to take advantage of the mobile benefits of Payback via Android, which is currently the fastest growing platform.” Over the next year, the app is to be made available for even more smartphones.
A further new benefit of the Payback app is that users can activate coupons for collecting extra points in Payback partner stores no matter where they are. In the past, customers needed to be close to a store. This function is particularly beneficial for iPod and iPad users. What's more, the app can show users the quickest route to partner company stores and enable them to check their current Payback points balance. The app's appeal is further enhanced by a range of useful extras that can be configured by the user, such as an ATM search feature or up-to-date cinema listings. The loyalty programme can also offer users mobile and regional points-collecting opportunities through the app, for example when making restaurant reservations.
The Payback partner companies that offer app coupons include dm-drogerie markt, Aral, Galeria Kaufhof, real, Apollo Optik, Europcar, Runner's Point, Tee Gschwendner, Linda Apotheken and WMF, with others due to follow soon. The free Payback app can also be used to register as a new member of the loyalty programme and is available to download from the Apple App Store, the Android Marketplace and from www.payback.de/app.
